Designed for two grade levels (5-8 and 6-12), this 
kit features a scale model of a “Bascule” bridge - 
a drawbridge that has a counterweight that continuously balances the bridge span. It is modeled after The Jefferson Street Bridge located in Joliet, IL, and is one of the four Bascule bridges that cross the Des Plaines River. Quick and easy to build, the kit contains 
precision laser-cut parts, all hardware, adjustable counterweight and roller platform, and is an excellent tool for teaching physics and engineering concepts and terms, including forces, loads, fulcrums, levers, and much more. The Class Pack includes enough supplies for 12 students along with a Teacher’s Guide on CD-ROM.
