Clues in Crime: The Role of Forensic Science in Criminal Investigations is a CD-ROM course that combines video lessons and lab demonstrations, interactive exercises, actual case files and a true-to-life crime scene investigation. Marilyn Miller, Professor of Forensic Science, University of New Haven, takes students on a journey into the science behind criminal investigations. Video segments teach students the terms and techniques used by forensic scientists, and engaging interactive exercises allow them to test their knowledge. Students will also have the chance to learn about some of the world’s most infamous forensic science cases. Coupled with the Forensic Science Unit Training Manual that is packed with critical thinking exercises and hands-on lab activities, this course is a comprehensive introduction to the fascinating world of forensic science. The course culminates with a Solve the Crime module in which students have the chance to apply what they’ve learned as they work to solve a true-to-life homicide. At the end of the investigation, students can send in a portion of their work to be recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP) as a super sleuth.
