Students create a landscape
design that is suitable for
the selected region of the
country and meets the client’s
needs.
The landscaping industry is growing, with both residential and
corporate customers taking an increased interest in the design and
functionality of their outdoor spaces. This module enables students
to explore this popular career field using Punch! Master Landscape
Pro, a unique and powerful landscape design program that features
drag-and-drop technology, fly-through 3D, a searchable plant library,
and much more. Students put their math skills to use as they work to
meet their client’s needs and wishes—and stay within their budget!
They learn how to evaluate a landscape site and select appropriate
plants, trees, grasses, and other landscape elements. Throughout the
module, students are encouraged to think creatively and to consider
the environmental effects of their design choices.
Additional activities cover traditional drawing
techniques and introduce students to career
opportunities in the field. This curriculum will
accommodate 7-, 10-, or 15-day class rotations.
Student Objectives
- Understand the connection between technology
and creativity as it exists in the field of
landscape design
- Use a scale and drawing templates to create a
landscape design
- Explain how the Plant Hardiness Zone map works
- Use a pH meter to test a soil sample
- Place various plants, trees, shrubs, and hedges
in the landscape plan, taking care to consider their
placement and requirements for sun, planting zone, etc.
- Use the software’s tools to design and place other
landscape elements, and then calculate square footage
and costs for these elements
- Understand the differences between different plants,
including annuals and perennials
- Add structures to the plan drawing, following their
client’s wants, needs, and budget
