House Frame Construction Kit 2-Story
This 3/4"-scale 2-story townhouse framing kit, with staircase, is framed in accordance with accepted building codes and teaches the fundamentals of sound wood frame construction. It combines conventionally framed walls with balloon framed walls (vaulted ceiling), and the roof structure is framed with trusses and conventional rafters. Second story construction includes the use of floor joists and sub-floor sheathing.
Here’s the world of construction in a kit of 3/4 in.-scale models that faithfully duplicate real wood frame structures. Prior knowledge of construction techniques and special setups are not needed. All wall framings can be done right on the working drawings provided. Instructions written in short, simple language explain how each piece of lumber serves a particular purpose in the wall frame. The kits are designed to teach how to draw up a floor plan, how to frame according to building codes, and much more. The 3/4 in.-scale lumber is high-quality balsa, cut to a tolerance of thousandths of an inch. Lumber provided in standard dimensions of 2x4, 1x6, 2x6, 2x8, 4x4, etc., is the same kind used by building contractors. The 2x4 stud lumber is precut to the length used. All other lumber comes in standard lengths as supplied by lumber yards.
Note: The kits contain the following items: 3/4 in.-scale working drawings; easy-to-follow instructions; custom-designed miter jig; cutting tools; tape measure; nails; layout pencil; and a work base that doubles as a display base when a kit is completed.
