This kit gives students the opportunity to design different trusses to meet different design parameters. Students will learn about truss designs from the Middle Ages to today. They will gain experience designing, drafting and working with scale. Students will learn about terms, such as top and bottom chord, web member, bearing, load, tension and compression. Peaked and flat trusses are discussed.

The Residential Roof Truss Kit includes a Teacher’s Guide, 15 sets of Student Instructions, a pack of 11" x 17" cross-section paper, 100 strips of 1/8" x ¼" balsa, 15 corrugated cardboard bases and 15 bottles of glue–enough supplies for 15 student teams of 2.
