Shed Classroom Kit

The Shed Classroom Kit helps students learn the fundamental steps in drawing and building a simple, single-story frame building—a residential shed. Students begin by creating a 3/4"-scale drawing of the shed. Step-by-step instructions guide students through the process. Then, using their drawing as a template, students build a scale model of their structure. This kit introduces students to building codes, scale, and framing and design practices. Students also learn about roofs and roof pitch, and design and build a truss roof to top their shed.
The Shed Kit includes a Teacher’s Guide, 15 sets of Student Instructions, a pack of 11" x 17" cross-section paper, 200 strips of 1/8" x 1/4" balsa, 100 strips of 1/8" x 3/8" balsa, 15 bottles of glue and 15 corrugated cardboard bases—enough supplies for 15 student teams of 2.
Note: Kit requires additional materials not supplied.
