Linking Unit
Shain linking units are designed to provide connectivity between octagonal
workstations or to connect octagons to perimeter benching. They are available in standard and custom lengths to accommodate different science subjects and teacher preferences. Units with sinks offer quick, convenient access to water, which makes it safer for student groups working on chemistry experiments and other lab tasks. Units without sinks offer a long flat surface that's ideal for physics applications.
Each linking unit features a locking door on each side for easy access to plumbing. The base interior is
completely open for accessibility. The unit is open on the ends to create a raceway for running utilities to
octagons. If the linking unit is not linked on both sides, a panel provides enclosure on the open end.
Sink link units include a standard 16" x 16" x 8"d sink or 5"d handicapped sink. Choose from matching epoxy
sinks or stainless steel sinks to coordinate with laminates and Chemsurf® tops.
Constructed of maple framing utilizing mortise and tenon joint construction with 3/4" birch plywood side panels,
the unit is extremely durable and attractive. The bottom of the unit includes a black vinyl toe kick protector. The
two 3/4" birch veneered doors feature masterkeyed cylinder locks and self-closing 3/8" inset hinges.
Overall measurement of standard linking unit: 35"l x 30"d x 36"h (also available in 30"h).
ADA Linking Unit
The ADA linking unit helps ensure that students with disabilities can actively participate in all group activities. To meet ADA guidelines and be fully wheelchair accessible, the base of the unit is open with ample kneehole space instead of doors. The ADA linking unit can also be outfitted with a shallower 5" deep sink (a standard sink is 8" deep).
